My mother is dying. She has been infected by the Death Plague. And I Ash Ironblade vow to save her.
The Death Plague is a horrible illness. It has infected and killed thousands of people.
hundreds of orphaned children live in the streets begging for food money and lodging. It has taken the life of my father and it hovers above my mother, tempting me to challenge it.

The weather is bright and cheerful, but that does not reflect the emotions everyone is being bombarded with. I’ve come to visit my mother. She doesn’t look any better than the last time I visited. Her normally rosy cheeks are a muted gray. I had prayed that by some miracle she would be healed, but in the back of my mind I knew it was impossible. no one survives the Death Plague.
I bent over my mother and whispered in her ear.
"Mother I promise I will not let the Plague kill you. I will find a cure. You are all I have left...besides Raven."

My mother held my arm as I tried to leave
"Promise me that once I’m gone you won’t give up on life you have so much potential.”
“mother you don’t have to worry about that I will heal you.”
I stormed out of the hospital annoyed at my mother’s disbelief.

As i exited the hospital i saw Raven. She was waiting for me outside the hospital. The birds that made up her hair squaked at me as i aproached her. she tured twords me. Her blue skin mad her look like a monster. many people did not accept her as human. They thought that she should go live in the forest like the other beasts.
"Ash i have something to show you, follow me."
we walked through the village many people looked at Raven as she walked by. Some even snareled at her, but she ignored them. She was used to this kind of prejudce, she had known it all her life.
Raven stopped. in front of her hiden behind a thicket was a rose. the rose was the color of fresh blood and it shimmered like crystline water.
"Its beautiful" I whispered.
"Yes very beautiful," Raven agreeded,"its called the Rose of Prad, it comes from a far off land filled with many valleys and streams, I think i'd like to visit there some day."
"We could go go together, travel the world and see many diffrent lands, maybe there might even be others like you somewhere."
Raven looked at me for a long time without speaking, and then she turned and left.

After my encounter with Raven i returned to the hospital. i walked through the doors and was meet by a frantic nurse.
"Ash your mother doesnt have long left she may not make it through the hour."
I didnt even think about it i just turned and ran. I ran through the village. the wind wipped my face i rushed into the thicket. the rose was still there. i really hope that the magic would cure her. so i picked it. The magic flowed through my arms and down into my legs until my whole body buzzed with power, then i lifted off the ground as a red armor surrounded my body, but then it faded and the buzzing stoped i floated gently to the ground and began running twords the hospital.
i got there just in time my mothers skin was turning gray, a sign that the plauge had almost take the soul. i toched my mothers arm. the gray started to become a deep red and then all the colors were gone. they had returned to her normal skin tone. all of the pale had left my mother to she now looked refreshed and energetic.she hopped out of the bed
"Lets go cure the rest of them," my mother said.
so we spent the rest of the day curing the patients. but by the end of the day i felt exhausted, even more than usuall. Even thought he was exhausted he felt a sense of pride. he had cured all of of the sick. now no one else would die! he had cured the village of the plauge! But he had stolen. He had taken Ravens rose. her prized possesion and he could never give it back or even get her a knew one for that matter. what would she do to him would shhe be mad. Of course she would be mad he had stolen her rose! just then Raven approached. The birds in her hair squaked. Her blue skin was as dark as night. and her her normally blue eyes were red.
"You stole my rose! I trusted you and you stole my rose. I needed that rose! it was going to pay for my trip around the world but you stole it!my plans are ruined and you are responsible!"
all of a sudden a flock of birds began to form. they were circling around my head. Cawing and squaking then the sky turned black. There were so many of them i couldnt see in front of my face. Then the flock started to decend they landed on my shoulders and pecked at my eyes and my ears. then the flock retreated and Raven was gone. and she would never return to the village

I hear the sounds of the leaves crunching as I walk. Raven, what was she doing now? A pine tree brushes against my arm and reminds of the feathers in Ravens hair. Raven, I wish she had never left. I have missed her so much, but I did steal her rose. And then the twig appeared. Mud splattered on my face. I hear wings flapping. Something large is approaching. And then something swooped down. It was a man, but he had wings, Huge wings with white feathers. Have I died, I thought, is he an angle that has come to take me to heaven . But he wasn’t. this man was actually quite the opposite. He carried a medieval looking mace and war a roman gladiator helmet.
“I have been sent by Raven Feathercrest, she has commanded me not to harm you but to lock you away until she knows you are harmless.”
And that is exactly what he did. The angelic man grabs my hands. I don’t resist because I know it’s useless he would just capture me again anyway. And then his wings start to flap. The air is being pushed from under us and we lift off the ground. We fly higher and higher and the clouds speed by. But then we stop at the doors of a beautiful gate . it is constructed from clouds and threaded with gold. And behind the gate is the largest, and most beautiful city I’ve ever seen. All of the buildings are constructed from clouds and the spires reach high up into the air and this city makes me feel happy until I remember that I have been captured by an angel.
